Pantries, tables, libraries, kitchen and the like

Well I've noticed various blogs I keep track of (see side bar) showing their kitchens. So I took some pictures of and around mine:

First the pantry.

Well there is both the food pantry and equipment pantries, plus the auxiliary pantries for both. We cook for two we need to be well equiped.

The house came with a 16' x ~40' family room/kitchen. We currently use about 22' of that room for the kitchen, there are only the two of us, we don't need that much of a family room after all.

The house did come with a pantry, but for some reason it only had shelves on the back wall. What was the rest of the space for anyway?

However in taking these pictures, I noticed that the missing shelf was covered in brown sticky stuff (cann of pineapple had opened), so this is a little more disorganized than normal. I don't move stuff here as my wife insists it is organized. Well, so is my office. There is some prepared food there, mostly canned soups and fruit.

This is where most of the equipment is stored, notice the collection of animals including the rubber chicken (won for coming in second in an ATSC contest. The grand nephews and nieces find these amusing.

Then there are the ancillary pantries

And of course the spare stove, needing only a 1/2" natural gas line connection.

With the sausage stuffer sitting next to it.

To be continued.

Great pics! What a wonderful pantry. Thanks for sharing.

The 4th pic down with the iron palms on the front is really an interesting piece. Don't think I've ever seen one like it. I like it.

We found that at an auction. The lower half, which isn't shown, is a wine rack, curently holding a bottle of Maui Blanc 1981 (pineapple wine).

We had never seen anything like it either, but decided that it needed a loving home. Tied it to the roof of the SUV and drove it home through New Jersey.

You've got enough food to feed a ravaging horde! Love all the home-canned goods.

Awesome pictures! Is that a basement pantry for all of your home-canned goods? If so, color me jealous! We don't have them in SoCal. I wish I had a good storage place, my small pantry is bursting at the seams. We have to store our wine offsite for lack of space!

Most of the stuff there is home canned, something I've been doing for a couple of years now. I do all of the actual canning, although my wife makes the tomato sauces and tomato juice for me to can.

We also shop Costco a lot so their bulk canned good go there as well. The kitchen pantry is mostly for stuff that isn't rodent proof and small amounts of canned good.

The only place I haven't had a basement was in apartment buildings, but it is only in this house I've used it for food storage. Wood shop is my usual funtion in the basement and this one has a good one.
